DESCRIPTION

Ideal for chasing powder and steep lines.

The PYL is widely regarded as one of the best shapes in snowboarding. Developed over the years by DCP, it’s a freeride board that has your back in bigger terrain and deeper snow, but also loves to freestyle when that’s on the menu.

In terms of shape, the PYL maintains a ‘traditional’ width and length - meaning that its designed to be ridden in more traditional (longer) length without losing it’s manoeuvrable & fun personality. It’s premium wood core and carbon stringers (in the tip) make sure you have stability at speed and in chopped up snow. And the Tapered UnderBite edge technology keeps the PYL stable on harder snow.

PRODUCT DETAILS

DESIGNED FOR: Intermediate - Expert | All-Mountain, Pow, Backcountry

    SHAPE: Directional

    FLEX: 7/10

    BASE: Sintered

    CAMBER PROFILE: Directional CamRock

    BINDING MOUNT: 4x2 12-pack

    FEATURES:

    Directional
A directional snowboard is purposefully shaped for optimal performance in one primary direction, typically with a longer nose compared to the tail. This design enhances stability, control, and float in varied conditions, making it particularly well-suited for carving, powder riding, and all-mountain exploration. The asymmetry aids natural turn initiation and provides a more dynamic riding experience when cruising downhill. Suited for riders who prefer a specific orientation for various terrains, a directional snowboard excels in responsiveness, offering a smooth and predictable ride that complements the nuances of specific riding styles and conditions.

    CamRock
CamRock is a profile that combines the best of both camber and rocker technologies. The camber section through the middle of the board provides stability and pop, while the rocker in the nose and tail elevates the tips, offering a more forgiving ride and improving float in powder. This design ensures versatility across various terrains. Depending on the specific rocker design, CamRock can be tailored to be directional, enhancing control in one direction, or a twin for a centered profile.

Fluid core: POPLAR / PAULOWNIA (50%/50%)
The Fluid Core is made from 50% Poplar and Paulownia wood. Poplar gives it a consistent, energetic feel (flex and pop), and the lighter Paulownia keeps it strong while saving weight. This combination results in a responsive, light, and reliable ride that performs well in all conditions and for any rider.

    Tapered UnderBite
More floatation and total edge control. Each side of the board’s effective edge is segmented into 3 distinct parts that step horizontally inward rather than tapering. Traditional “tapered boards” take the full sidecut and pull the tail inward, which is away from the arc of your turn. This is why they tend to wash out under hard carving. Tapered UnderBite corrects this by increasing the sidecut depth as you move towards the tail creating a corrective “hook” to the taper. The board blends into turns effortlessly, and has the directional drive and float you’d expect from a tapered board. A Tapered UnderBite Sidecut involves a more pronounced sidecut under the bindings and towards the tail. Benefits include:

    • Enhanced Maneuverability: Eases turn initiation and smooth transitions.
    • Versatility: Offers the advantages of a tapered shape while maintaining twin or directional twin benefits.
    • Increased Float in Powder: Improves performance in powder by enhancing float.
    • Reduced “Overturning”: Mitigates the sensation of catching during aggressive turns.
    • VS UnderBite : It adds floatability to the board as the tail is tapered. The tail radius is tighter avoiding the tail from washing out. It doesn’t ride as well switch as the tail (new nose) will tend to sink.

    Biax Glass
Biaxial or “Biax” fiberglass consists of fibers running in two directions, typically along the length and width of the board. This construction provides a balanced flex pattern, making the snowboard more forgiving and easier to control. It enhances torsional flexibility, allowing for smoother turns and maneuvers, which is particularly beneficial for riders who prioritize a playful and versatile riding experience rather than aggressive performance.

    Carbon 1 FS
Introducing Carbon 1 FS : Stringers of carbon fiber form straight lines from the insert pack to the nose and tail of the board, enhancing longitudinal stiffness. This design creates a stiffer nose and tail platform, ensuring exceptional stability during jump take offs and landings.
